HEAD COACH - HUY NGUYEN



Huy Nguyen graduated from UC Davis in 2003 with a degree in Biotechnology. He was the starting outside hitter on the UC Davis Men’s Club Volleyball Team which won the 2001 NIRSA DIII Club Championships in Dallas, TX.

He joined the San Marcos Knights Volleyball program in the Fall of 2006 after moving down from Northern Cal.  While up north, Huy coached for Davis High School and the Davis Volleyball Club. Huy also coached for the Golden Bear Volleyball Club in Berkeley, CA. While coaching for Golden Bear, his 17-2 team qualified for the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2005. Additionally, he helped lead his 18-1 team to a 5th place finish in the 18 Open Division of the 2006 Junior Olympics in Atlanta, GA. More recently, Huy helped coach the Knights to a CIF Division IV 2nd place finish in 2007.


VARSITY COACHING STAFF

Coach Tom Strathairn

Thomas Strathairn earned a BA in English from University of Washington 1969. He was a 3 year varsity letterman in track from 1966-68.
He later earned his MS in Health Ed from Columbia University 1978.

He has been teaching English and coaching volleyball in San Marcos since 1991.

   

   JV HEAD COACH - Aimee Asebroek


Aimee Asebroek graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine in 2005 where she received her Bachelor's degree in Spanish and her minor in Educational Studies. At Irvine, she was the president and captain of the Women's Club Volleyball Team for three years, and also the President of the Southern California Collegiate Volleyball league for one year.

Aimee's other volleyball experience includes 2 years playing for Club Strictly Volleyball and 3 years playing for North County Volleyball Club as an Outside/Opposite hitter. She also played 3 years on the Varsity team at Vista High School where she received the Coaches Award.

Aimee has coached club volleyball for the past 4 years for SoCal Volleyball Club.  She has coached at the 14s, 16s, 17s, and 18's level for girls, and the 14's level for boys. Aimee has helped run or assist the majority of SoCal's camps and clinics, and is the current Director of Administration at the Club.  She has also run camps and coached for the City of Vista, Club Strictly Volleyball and North County Volleyball Club.

Aimee's believes that basic fundamentals are a must but that developing and maintaining teamwork skills and great attitudes are even more crucial. For her, there is an overriding emphasis on enjoying the experience as a whole and creating a lifelong love for the game. Aimee also stresses hard work and respect for one another.
