Pulu is the 7th of 9
children and raised in Oceanside, California. Pulu began
playing football for Oceanside High School in 1987. As a high
school athlete, some of his accomplishments included:

Pulu went on to receive a full ride football scholarship to the
University of Arizona. He played for University of Arizona
from 1990-1995 while receiving his Bachelors Degree in Sociology.
As a college athlete, some of his accomplishments included:

< 1994 Pre-Season All PAC 10 Choice
< Received the Martin Gentry award for
Outstanding Offensive Lineman
Upon graduation, Pulu became a free-agent to play professional
football with the Cleveland Browns. Pulu played professionally
for 5 years. See side panel for details.
After retiring from playing, Pulu decided to become a high school
teacher and football coach. He went back to college and
received his teaching credential along with his Masters in
Education. Pulu became a math teacher at his former high
school in Oceanside and became the Varsity Defensive Coordinator,
where he has been coaching and teaching for the past 5 years.
Pulu was hired to be the Varsity Football Coach at San Marcos High
School in 2008 and is looking forward to continuing on his legacy of
playing and teaching excellence and championship level football.
Pulu is married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica, and they have 3 children. Pululipano Junior (PJ), Mautofi, and Taimane.
He and his family are excited to be a part of the San Marcos High
School and it's football teams.

Kenny Aukuso
Kenny is new to San Marcos High
this year and will be working with Coach Pulu as his Assistant
Head Coach focusing on the offensive side of the game.
Kenny graduated from Oceanside high school in 1988.
At Oceanside, he played football and participated in track.
In football, Kenny was named first team all league running back
and voted offensive player of the year. Kenny lettered in
both sports and moved on to play football for Eastern Washington
University, were he played fullback and special teams. Due
to injuries in his college playing days, he had to remove
himself from playing football and begin coaching football.
He continued his football career through coaching the sport he
loves. Kenny has been a coach at El Camino High School for
the past six years as a running back coach and special teams
coach. He is looking forward to working with San Marcos
High School and coaching the team on to excellence.
Kenny is married to his best friend Fran. Together they
have three children; KJ, Kalani, and Keanalei.

Brenden Cotter
Brendan is embarking on his 8th season at San Marcos High
School as both a teacher and a coach. During his tenure at
SMHS he has served in a variety of coaching positions. Most
recently, for the 2007 season, he coached the offensive line of both
JV and Varsity as well as assisted in the special teams unit.
His hard work and dedication serve as the foundation for the
offensive side of the ball.
His stamp on the school has been very positive and we are excited
about what the future holds for him as the new Assistant Varsity
Coach managing the Offensive Line and Weight Room for the 2008
season.
Brendan attended San Marcos High School in 1995, and from UCSB in
1999 with a degree in political
science. His hobbies include surfing, snowboarding and
motorcross. He has been teaching at San Marcos High School
since 2001.

Fale Poumele
This will be Fale's first year coaching running backs at
San Marcos. Fale prepped at Oceanside High School where he was
a 3 year letterman on the Varsity football team. In 1999, Fale
became the first athlete from San Diego County to appear in Sports
Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" for his performance on the field
against Torrey Pines. Fale was a two way player for the
Pirates on offense, playing wide receiver and running back, and on
defense, playing linebacker and strong safety. Fale's
accomplishments included: 1st Team All League, 1st Team all CIF, 1st
Team all Pacific Islander team and team M.V.P. while at Oceanside
High School.
Following High School, Fale earned a full scholarship to play
football at San Diego State University, where he lettered for 4
years. He played running back and special teams. His
senior year, he earned the team's AIM award, and was one of the top
fullbacks in the Mountain West Conference. He graduated with a
Sociology degree and looks to join the Knights not only as a coach,
but also as a teacher.
In Fale's first year as a Knight, he will apply all his knowledge
learned from his previous experiences to help guide the Knights as
they compete this year. Fale's personality and experience,
will be a good model for our team on their quest for a championship.
Fale's hobbies include: basketball, exercise, surfing, and
spending time with his family and fiance, Bree.

Se'e Poumele
Se'e will be entering his first year coaching our wide
receivers at San Marcos High School. Se'e prepped at Oceanside
High School along with Coach Fale. Se'e was a 2 year letterman
on the Varsity football team. He was San Diego County
Offensive Player of the Year in his senior season in 1998.
Se'e was the starting quarterback for the Pirates for two years,
each time leading them to the finals and winning the CIF title in
1997. Se'e was named Avocado League & North County Offensive
Player of the Year, Pacific Islander Team Offensive player of the
year, and team MVP while playing for Oceanside High School.
Following high school, Se'e played football at Palomar College and
was 1st team All Mission Conference as a receiver, later he
transferred to Southwest College, where he was 1st team all Foothill
Conference as the Quarterback. Upon receiving his AA degree,
he transferred to the University of Hawaii on a full ride
scholarship where he played slot receiver and quarterback for the
Warriors. His senior year, he played in the Hawaii Bowl, and
was on of the top receivers on the team. He graduated with a
Sociology degree in 2005. Se'e also played professionally for
the Arena Football League, where he received all Conference honors
as a slot receiver.
Se'e is looking forward to bringing intensity and experience to the
receiving corps. His goal is to help the Knights football team
compete for a league title. In his free time, Se'e likes to
play basketball, exercise, and spend time with his family and
girlfriend Mellissa.

Alex Turner
This will be the 3rd year of coaching at San Marcos High
School for Alex. He came to us in 2006 having coached at Rancho
Buena Vista High School. He was the Head JV and Varsity Linebackers
Coach and will be taking on the responsibility this season as the Junior Varsity
head coach and Linebackers for both JV & Varsity.
Alex currently coaches both football and baseball at SMHS, and
teaches in the humanities department. Alex brings a lot of
enthusiasm and energy to the football program and is excited about
changing the face of San Marcos football.
Alex attended Rancho Buena Vista High School and furthered his
education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Alex is happily married to
Melissa Turner and together they have a one year old, born during
football season of 2007. His hobbies include, tennis, golf,
and chess.

Glenn Miller
Glenn Miller comes to San Marcos with a wealth of coaching
experience. Coach Miller will be our defensive backs coach and
our special team's coordinator. Glenn coached at Vista High
School and was part of a successful high school program for seven
years. Coach Miller graduated from El Camino High School in
1980. He played linebacker for Coach Heb Meyer and the
Wildcats where he was an All-League selection. He then
continued his playing career at Palomar College before getting in to
the workforce.
Glenn looks to bring intensity and coaching experience to the
defensive backfield as we set our goals on creating the #1 defense
in the county. In his free time, Glenn likes to play
basketball, lift weights and spend time with his family. Glenn
has two sons, one currently in Law School and the other a
Firefighter. Glenn resides in Vista with his wife, Sandy.

Alex Turner
This will be the 3rd year of coaching at San Marcos High

Ramirez
This will be Martin's second year of coaching at SMHS.
Last year, Martin was responsible for coaching the Linebackers on
JV and Varsity. This 2008 season his focus will be on the
quarterbacks and as the Offensive Coordinator for our Junior Varsity team.
Coach Rameriz is a great addition to the Knight coaching
staff and brings a high level of energy and passion to the players.
He brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience to the program,
and is willing to do what it takes to teach these young men about
the game of football and life.

FRESHMAN COACHING STAFF
Gary Keeton
Head Coach, Freshman

Coach Keeton is from St. Louis Missouri and
moved to California in 2004. He is currently the Athletic
Director and Physical Education teacher at Woodland Park Middle
School in San Marcos.
Gary has played 12 years of football and earned all state honors as
Middle Linebacker for Parkway South High School. Soon after
graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served
honorably for 4 years. Gary then went on to attend college at the
University of Missouri where he graduated in 2000.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Parkway South High
School, as the Head Junior Varsity Coach. Under his coaching,
his teams amassed a 28-2 win/loss record in three seasons.
Following his tenure as Head Coach of Junior Varsity, he went on to
Varsity as an Assistant Coach focusing on Linebackers and Wide
Receivers. His Varsity teams finished 22-2 with a trip to the
state quarter finals and semi-finals.
Coach Keeton has been the Freshman Defensive Coordinator for the
past three seasons at San Marcos High School. He has accepted
the position of Head Coach of our Freshman team and is looking
forward to a successful season for 2008. Coach Keeton is
married to Amanda, who is a teacher for San Marcos Unified.
They have three children, J.J., Brody, and Madison. Bryce,
their fourth child, is due in September.

Bruce Storrs
Coach Storrs is entering his 36th year as a teacher and
coach for the Fighting Knights. He teaches physical education
at SMHS and is also the Boys Varsity Tennis Coach.
Bruce played football for the legendary Don Coryell at San Diego
State and began his teaching and coaching career in 1973. He
has served at the Varsity, JV, and Freshman levels during his
coaching career. He held the post of Head Freshman Coach
for eight years, winning two league titles and coaching the only
undefeated football team in the history of the school.
Coach Storrs is married to Natasha and has three children, Scott,
Brent, and Heather. He holds a Master's Degree in Physical
Education.

Jim Beason
Coach Jim Beason is a teacher of Social Sciences at San
Marcos High School and is in his 15th year of teaching at his alma
mater. He is married to wife Lesley, and has 3 children,
Hilary, Elizabeth and Ian.
Coach Beason is in his 32 year of coaching football and has held the
positions of Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and
Special Teams Coordinator. He has also, at one time in his
career, coached every Offensive and Defensive position in football.
Jim Beason was the Head Coach of Junior Varsity at SMHS from
1999-2003. For the 2008 football season with the Knights, he
will be the Offensive Coordinator and coach the quarterbacks.

Barney
Logan
Since 1978, Barney Logan has been a Physical Education
teacher and coach. He is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade
physical education at Woodland Park Middle School. He has been
at Woodland for the past 10 years and is the PE Department head.
He has coached their track and field program to the North County
Championships for the past 5 years.
Coach Logan attended Arizona State University and has a Bachelor
degree in Physical Education. He also holds a Master Degree in
Secondary Education and a minor in Exercise Physiology. Coach Logan
was a competitive rugby player while at Arizona State, where he was
co-captain and led the team in scoring.
Coach Logan previously coached with Mission Hills. While
coaching football at Mission, he helped garner 2 out of 3 league
championships with the freshman team.
Coach Logan is poised and inspired to be coaching with the Knights.
He hopes to bring a motivating spirit and passion to the San Marcos
High school football team. Coach Logan lives in Temecula with
his loving wife, Noni, and their 4 children. Michael, Amanda,
and their 12 year old twins, Daniel and Jaclyn.

Brody Barrios
As alumni of San Marcos Pop Warner, Coach Barrios has over ten
years of football experience. This is Coach Barrios’ first year
coaching football for the Knights and is very excited to a part of
the new era of San Marcos
High School.
Coach Barrios is also the Head Wrestling Coach for
San Marcos
High School and
believes football and wrestling go hand in hand.
As a high school wrestler, some of his
accomplishments included:
- Second at the National High School Championships
- Two-time California High School State Champion and All-American
- Three-time CIF-San Diego Section Champion
- Three-time CIF-San Diego Section Masters Champion
- Team Captain -1999 Poway High School State Championship Team
- North County Times Male Athlete of the Year c/o 2000
Coach Barrios went on to receive a full ride wrestling scholarship
to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated with a degree in
kinesiology. He was 4 year
Varsity Letterman and Team Captain for the Mustangs and had the
privilege to compete in the NCAA Div. I National Championships.
Coach Barrios will be working on his student teaching this
fall at San Marcos
High School
and is proud to be part of such an excellent coaching staff.

Hermin Knuckles
Coach Nuckols is a graduate of
San Marcos High School. He graduated in 2001. As a Knight, Coach
Nuckols was a three sport letterman all four years as a Knight.
He starred in football as a reciever and defensive back, played
basketball and competed for the track & field team. Upon
graduation he played football for
Palomar College
as a defensive back. At present Coach Nuckols works as a
supervisor for the San Marcos Boys and Girls Club and a Campus
Supervisor in the
San Marcos Unified School District.
Coach Nuckols will coaching the
recievers for the
freshman football team and coaching several special teams
as well.

Jesus Gonzalez
Jesus will be tackling his second year as the offensive line coach
for Freshman football. He will be returning to us after an
exciting 207 season during which he helped guide the team to the
Valley League Championship.
Football has been a great passion in his life since the age of 6.
He started playing freshman football at San Pasqual High School
after which he transferred to San Marcos High for another successful
3 years of football. He lettered in football, wrestling, and
shot put for track and field. He graduated from SMHS in 2005
and is now pursuing a career as a Computer Drafter with Auto Cad
operations.
Jesus brings passion, discipline, a high level of energy and a
strong work ethic to the team. He loves coaching football not
only because he gets to be around the game he loves, but also
because he has an influence in the players' lives. with the
help of the game, he has a part in the players development in to
young men.
Jesus hopes that this season will be as exciting as 2007. His
goal is to be able to assist in getting the team to defend their
Valley League Championship Title in 2008 and in years to come.
