After my first spring as head football coach
at San Marcos High School, I was pleased with the efforts of our
boys. As we head in to the summer, we look forward to
keeping up this momentum!
On May 30th, we ended our spring workouts with an inter-squad
scrimmage, our 1st annual Blue & Silver Game, BBQ and
Fundraiser. Roughly 500 people enjoyed great food from
Outback Steakhouse, raffle prizes, music and our silent auction.
Co-sponsoring the event with Outback, was North County's own
Pisa Tinoisamoa of the St. Louis Rams. The fundraiser was
a huge success, raising much needed funds for our program.
Along with Pisa and Outback Steakhouse, the community of San
Marcos supported their student athletes through generous
sponsorships and donations. Our sincerest thanks to all
who participated in this inaugural event and we look forward to
next year.
Looking at our 2008 teams, we are on the verge of something
special and it's real exciting! I was impressed with our
incoming freshman when I visited our middle schools this spring,
and many future Knights came to the Blue & Silver game.
Our underclassmen return from an awesome season! Freshmen
were 11-1, winning the Valley League Championship and finishing
in style by beating Mission Hills! JV was 7-4, and with
some great senior leadership, we'll be very competitive this
season. Our Offensive system will be both explosive and
powerful. We plan to dominate possession time, gain field
position, and score points. Defense will be aggressive,
limiting opponents' yardage and keeping them off the scoreboard.
Special teams will provide momentum change, put us in great
field position, and make our opponents drive the length of the
field.
It has been a great start and I look forward to leading our
student-athletes this fall. Through our players' hard work
and our coaching staff's preparation, it looks to be an exciting
season. The "buzz" is out and our future looks bright!
There will be a different attitude and look to San Marcos
football this season, but make no mistake, it will be Knights
Football! I encourage the community to come out on Friday
nights and watch the Knights compete.
I look forward to working with the staff at San Marcos High and
getting to know the community. I'll see you at Excalibur
Field!
WORK TODAY,
BUILD FOR TOMORROW
